Harbor Regional Health is proud to welcome Maggie May, DO, a family medicine physician returning to the community where she was raised to serve the people of Grays Harbor. Dr. May continues a remarkable medical legacy established by her parents: her mother, Anne Marie Wong, MD, Chief Medical Officer and an internal medicine physician with additional certifications in hospice, palliative, addiction medicine, and wound care, and her father, Greg May, MD, a board-certified orthopedic sur-geon.
Coming Home to Serve
For Dr. Maggie May, returning to Aberdeen means carrying forward her family’s passion for compas-sionate, comprehensive healthcare. “As a family physician, I enjoy getting to know my patients throughout the many stages of their lives,” she says. “I find it incredibly fulfilling to celebrate my pa-tients’ milestones and successes, but I am also here to support them through challenging times.”
At Harbor Regional Health Family Medicine in Aberdeen, Dr. May offers a full range of family medi-cine services, including regular check-ups, chronic disease management, lifestyle counseling, and specialist referrals. “I hope my patients feel heard, respected, and empowered,” she adds. “I want them to know we’re a team in their healthcare journey.”
A Legacy of Service
Raised in Grays Harbor, Dr. May witnessed firsthand her parents’ dedication to improving health out-comes for residents in rural communities. Dr. Wong, who earned her medical degree from Creighton University in 1991 and completed her training at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in 1994, reflects on her decision to serve in Aberdeen:
“During our training, the value of service was emphasized. When I came to this community, I knew that desire to serve would be fulfilled. We believe every individual deserves quality healthcare, espe-cially in rural areas. What a blessing to have our daughter and her family move back here to invest in the community and provide needed healthcare. We are hopeful she will receive the same personal and professional fulfillment we have experienced.”
A Father’s Pride
Dr. May’s father, Greg May, MD—who earned his MD from Creighton University in 1990 and com-pleted his orthopedic residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in 1995—shares in the excite-ment of his daughter’s return:
“We were trained to serve, and nowhere is that more needed than in rural areas. It’s inspiring that our daughter chose to come back and provide care here. I have great pride in my daughters and their achievements. Maggie returning to Aberdeen allows me to feel that pride every day. We hope this encourages other young professionals to return and invest in our community.”
Committed to Community
A graduate of Aberdeen High School, Dr. Maggie May earned her medical degree from Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences and completed her family medicine residency at Mercy Anderson Family and Community Medicine. She returned to Grays Harbor in 2024, carrying on her parents’ tradition of caring for local residents. “Coming back home allows me to build relationships with patients who are also my neighbors,” she says. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in the place that shaped me.”
Outside the office, Dr. May enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children, and relaxing with a good book—balancing her professional life with family and community.
